Equipment

  • 1 Vegetable peeler
  • 1 Sharp knife
  • 1 Cutting Board
  • 1 Large mixing bowl
  • Measuring spoons
  • 1 Baking sheet (large)
  • Parchment paper (or silicone baking mat)
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 2 large sweet potatoes about 1 ½ lbs / 680 g
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch optional, for extra crispiness
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika or regular paprika
  • ½ teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Onion Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Salt or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper
  • Fresh parsley chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  • Prepare sweet potatoes: Peel (optional) and cut into evenly sized sticks, about ¼ to ½ inch thick.
  • Soak (optional for crispiness): Place cut fries in a bowl of cold water for 20–30 minutes. Drain and pat very dry with a clean kitchen towel.
  • Season fries: In a large bowl, toss sweet potato sticks with olive oil. Sprinkle cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss until well coated.
  • Arrange on baking sheet: Spread fries in a single layer without overcrowding (use 2 pans if needed).
  • Bake fries: Place in preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes. Flip fries with a spatula, then bake another 12–15 minutes until golden brown and crispy at the edges.
  • Serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley and extra salt if desired. Serve immediately with ketchup, aioli, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Extra crispy tip: Soaking in water + cornstarch gives fries a crispier bite.
Air fryer option: Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 12–15 minutes, shaking halfway.
Flavor variations: Try cinnamon + chili powder for sweet & spicy fries.
